CicadaClan -- When They Cry

Introduction
A thick forest travels on as long as the eye can see. The ground churns under your paws as you neared the swampy areas, thick undergrowth grabs you as you push through. This area seemed so depressing, especially as the sun began to set. No scents of prey you knew of, just the musky scent of humid air. However the saving grace of this swampy forest was the loud cries of the local cicadas. They seemed to say in their songs "Come forward, come forward" and "They're waiting, they're waiting."

Eventually you approched a strange looking areas, the bushes and undergrowth were shaped diffrently as if they were formed as a barrier. There was a hole in this barrier, carrying with it the scent of many cats. Cautiously, you enter and to your suprise you see a group of cats gathering, staring right at you. One cat sat on a large, hollowed out tree stump, holding a coy smirk.

"Welcome. Our medicine cat heard the cicadas cries well," she replied. Welcome to our Clan, we've be waiting for you.

Territory & Camp
CicadaClan's territory is a forest swamp, nestled deep within the mountains. The forest had pathways and elevated ledges within the forest, looked as if they were once paths made by twolegs that had onced travelled into the forest. In the moutains lies the Tribe of Wailing Wind, occasionally cats from the moutains pop up around CicadaClan and vise versa. However it is enough for both groups of cats to be aware of one another's presence.

• Bottomless Swamp -- Not to far away from the Camp lies a large swamp. This swamp was known to be viturally bottomless it is to be avoided from swiming within the swamp. When cats die, elders take the body and throw them in the swamp (See Traditions, Custioms and Stories for more info)
  
• Great Tree -- Largest tree in the swamp and where the cicadas are most abundant. The area is free of undergrowth and a clear pool of water lies in a crook between the tree's exposed roots. The area is used to communicate to StarClan.
  
• Abandoned Twoleg Place -- An old twoleg place at the edge of the forest, very small and decrepid place. Nests are broken down and plants start to grow around the area. Great place where prey lives, even during Leafbare. However it is a great place for predators as well.
  
• Camp -- The camp is small. There are two large trees on each side of the camp. On the left is the Elder's Tree; elders live within the roots of the tree as the apprentices sleep up in the canopy. On the right is the Queen's Tree; the expecting and nursing queens sleep in the roots while the warriors sleep in the canopy. In the center is the Leader's Stump; both nest for the leader and place to adress meetings. Finally their is the Medicine Rock in the far back; a large rock hollowed and large enough for ill cats and herb store.

Traditions, Customs, and Stories

• Burial -- When a cat passes away, their body is set out in the clearing, cleaned by the medicine cat and preped for burial. After some time of mourning, the elders take the body out to the swamp and throw it in the lake. If the cat had a good life, their spirit will branch out of their body as it sinks and joins StarClan. If the cat has done teerible things in the eyes of StarClan, they sink to the bottom forever trapped in their body and unable to ever see their Clanmates again.
  
• Listening of the Cicadas -- This takes place during green-leaf and late new-leaf, where the medicine cat and ldear takes apprentices to visit the Great Tree to listen to the cicadas. The cicadas cries can be heard and can send omens only to a select few of apprentices that visit their. Apprentices must attend the Listening of the Cicadas at least once.
  
• Taking/Splitting Mates -- There is a ritual for when cats become maes. Once a cat admits their love to their signifigant other, they plan a day of the Taking Mates Ceramony. This is presented in front of the clearings, hosted by the leader. The couple takes an oath to one another and a small celebration begins. Splitting Mates however is diffrent, the couple goes to the medicine cat and have a private ceramony at the Great Tree or public in front of the Clan.
  Side note: Leaders can not have mates if they enter a position without a mate, medicine cats may have mates but can not split afterward. Leaders and medicine cats can not be mates with one another. Apprentices can not perform the ritual until they become a warrior.
  
• Cry of Insanity -- A rumoured story of medicine cats and leaders (even some warriors) going insane. In each story it shows the insanity in five stages:
  -1- Normal, the cat acts normal. It is suspected all cats are always on Stage One no matter what.
  -2- Suspision, cat changes in behavior and acts oddly around other Clanmates. Longest stage starting unnoticable and building up to Stage Three.
  -3- Hullusination, stories account the cat starts to see things not there. Cat starts to display violent tendecies.
  -4- Killing, the cat snaps and attempts to harm or kill others. This stage is short and quickly crosses into Stage Five
  -5- Death, the oddest stage. The cat dies, all accounts found that they had clawed their throat out in a fit of insanity.
  No one knows why this happens frequently, and especially for medicine cats or leaders. It is assumed it has something to do with cicadas - for cicadas are known to either bring blessings or curses. This story is told through out the Clan for countless moons. Hopefully to find and stop a cat from entering Stage three, onward. If cat is not so lucky, one must perphare on how to deal with them...

Greenleaf ~ The forest is lush and filled with prey, but is is very humid and hot at times. Cicadas are plentiful this time of year, very livily and loud.

Firefall awoke in the early morning. Climbing down the Elder's tree from his canopy nest he tredded quietly as not to disturb his denmates. Whitelegs mumbled something incoherient in his sleep but showed no other signs of waking up.

Firefall walked out into the clearing. The sky was still dark, he awoke earilier then the morning cicadas and most of his den mates. He let out a relaxed sign as he sat down beside the fresh-kill pile filled with lizards, frogs and some shrews.
